TOURNAMENT RULES
I. Registration - Go to: www.nasptournaments.org
A. Teachers/coaches may pre-register archers from August-1-15 8AM- 5PM EST. Since all coaches used the on-line registration tool for the national tournament, user identifications and passwords are already in the system. Additionally, since nearly every student that will be registered for the world tournament were registered for the national tournament, their names, genders, and grades are also in the system. Any new coaches and students will need to be entered in the system at the time of pre-registration. It is highly recommended you pre-register your roster in order to save time when registration opens to maximize your opportunity to secure the flight time and date you prefer.
B. Teachers/coaches may register archers beginning August 16-September 17-8AM-5PM EST.
C. The registration fee remains $25/archer (coaches free) paid when registering to guarantee your flight and lanes.
D. NASP® will provide a souvenir pin to each archer and up to 6 coaches who register as part of the registration fee. The only souvenir t-shirts, hats, etc. available will be for sale at the tournament by Walt Disney World® Resorts.
E. Participation levels at this tournament are limited at only half the number available at the National tournament. Registration will close when all flights have been filled. II. Reserving Your Stay at Walt Disney World® Resorts
A. To help keep future registration fees low, it is important for participants to utilize packages Walt Disney World® Resorts has arranged for our archery tournament.
B. Whether staying at Disney's All-Star Resort, Disney's Caribbean Beach, or Champions World Resort, each package includes 3 nights stay and 2, 1-day park passes.

III. Planned Schedule of Flight Times - 2,640 Shooters
A. Wednesday October 6th: 1:00, 2:15, 3:30, 4:45, & 6:00
B. Thursday - October 7th: 8:30, 9:45, 11:00, 1:00, 2:15, 3:30, 4:45, & 6:00
C. Friday - October 8th: 8:30, 9:45, 11:00, 1:00, 2:15, 3;30, 4;45, & 6:00
D. Saturday - October 9th: 8:30, 9:45, & 11:00 - Awards @ 1:00-2:00
E. If registration numbers warrant:
i. Flights less than half full may be combined - (teams won't be moved more than 1-2 hours)
ii. If more flights are needed they will be @ Thursday & Friday 7:15 and 8:30 PM.
IV. Participation
A. Any student or team that attended the 2010 NASP® National Tournament in Louisville, Kentucky on May 7-8, 2010 is invited to participate in the 2010 NASP® World Invitational Tournament. Students in a higher grade by October 2010 may be registered and attend as part of their original team or as individuals as if they were still in the same grade as of May, 2010. Substitute archers, attending the same NASP®-school, may be registered in place of those who no longer attend the school or who otherwise cannot attend the world event.
B. For purposes of this world tournament a reduced team size may register for the competition. To qualify for world team competition the team must have at least 12 members with at least 4 of these being either boys or girls. When compiling the score, the top 4 boys' and top 4 girls' scores will be summed with the next 4 highest scores, for a team score representing 12 team members.
C. To promote participation at this event, a national team may send less than 12 of its members to the worlds. In cases where fewer than 12 members attend, all will compete as individuals by grade and gender as they were at the national tournament in May, 2010.
D. NASP Schools: Every competitor must attend a school offering NASP lessons as part of the in-school curriculum.
II. Equipment Only equipment specified for use in NASP® may be used in the tournament.
A. Bows: Only the stock (original), unmodified GenesisTM bow approved for NASP® may be used.
a. Only thread knots or heat shrink nock locators will be permitted to be used (1 or 2). Brass nock locators are prohibited. Instructions for tying on a nock locator are available at www.nasparchery.com
b. The bow must be sight and sight-mark free. Camouflage bows may be used, but the face of the riser window must be covered to prevent camouflage lines serving as sight-marks. Tape or paint placed to cover sight marks must remain in place throughout the competition. Range officials will not cover sight marks. It is important that archers and coaches comply with this rule before their flight time.
c. The bow must be free of draw stops or stabilizers.
d. The bowstring and cables may be "after-market" but of the same approximate length.
e. The cable guard, slide, wheel, cam, bearings, riser, and limbs must be original and unmodified.
f. An archer's bow may be personalized by painting, stickers, etc. as long as sighting aids are NOT created.
g. The arrow rest must be original and unmodified.
h. All bows must be on bow racks for range official inspection before shooting begins.
i. Once shooting begins no bows may be taken behind the waiting line, without range official approval.
j. Loaner Bows: Archers are encouraged to bring their own NASP® bows. A very small number of "loaner"
bows will be available in case of equipment failures.
B. Arrows: Only arrows and arrow components approved for use in NASP® may be used.
a. Both the "old version" and the "new version" aluminum NASP arrows may be used at this tournament.
i. The "old version" is the 30"aluminum arrow with 3, 2.8"x.5" plastic vanes and a glued on nock. These arrow shafts are blue.
ii. The "new version" is the 30" aluminum arrow with 3, 2.8x.5" plastic vanes and push-in nocks. These arrow shafts may be blue or gold.
b. Arrow vanes may be marked for purposes of identification.
i. The arrow shaft may be marked, crested, or taped above the mid-point (towards the nock) for purposes of identification.
ii. Arrow Supplies: Tournament officials will provide 5 of the -old version‖ arrows (and replacements as needed) in each archer's floor quiver. Personal arrows may be used but must meet standards outlined above, be uniquely marked to identify the archer's arrow, and be placed in the provided floor quivers.
C. Accessories: Archers may wear finger tabs, tape, or gloves to protect draw-hand fingers. "No-glove" finger-protection devices may be placed on the bowstring. Archers may wear arm guards. Finger or wrist slings are allowed. Wrist slings may be attached using the stock bolt that comes with the strap. The bolt must be made of steel or plastic and must protrude one inch or less beyond the bow's accessory hole. Mechanical release aids are not allowed. "Sims" vibration dampeners on the bow limbs are allowed.
D. All bows, arrows, and accessories used by participants may be subjected to inspection, including dismantling at the discretion of tournament officials. Anyone found using disallowed equipment or modifications will forfeit their awards and be disqualified from the rankings. Disqualification may affect their team's rank.
III. Competitive Format
A. Range Set-Up
a. Targets will be the standard NASP® 80 cm FITA face with 10 scoring rings.
b. Target butts will be placed directly on the floor similar to the height of school butts.
c. Targets will be attached to the butts approximately 4-6 inches above the floor.
d. A "Coaches-Only Alley" will be delineated between the waiting line and spectators.
e. Approximately 55, 5 foot wide shooting lanes will be used with 2 archers assigned per lane per flight.
f. Shooters occupying a lane will be from different schools where possible.
B. Whistle Signals: NASP® whistle commands will be used to operate the range.
C. Arrows-Handling and Movement on the Range: NASP® safety rules must be followed.
a. Archers must walk when moving about the range.
b. Archers must remain standing when at the targets scoring and pulling arrows.
c. While both archers may approach the target when scoring, only one archer may remain at the targets when arrows are pulled. The other archer must be safely behind the target line while arrows are being pulled.
d. Arrows must be carried with points covered by one hand and the shaft held below the vanes with the other.
e. Throughout pre-draw, draw, and aim the archer must keep the arrow pointed below the backstop curtain.
D. Order of Shooting
a. Each archer will shoot two warm-up/practice ends of 5 arrows at 10 meters and then shoot 3 scoring ends of 5 arrows at 10 meters.
b. Each archer will shoot one practice end of 5 arrows at 15 meters and then shoot 3 scoring ends of 5 arrows at 15 meters.
c. Archers will have 2 minutes to shoot each 5-arrow end. An alert will be provided near the conclusion of each end. For tournament management purposes, no time clock will be in view of the archers.
d. An arrow that bounces off the target may be shot again as instructed by range officials.
E. Scoring:
a. All arrows must be scored before any arrow or the target's face is touched.
b. Beginning in the center of the target, scoring rings are 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, &1.
c. An arrow touching a line is awarded the higher point value.
d. An arrow that is not in a scoring ring is awarded "O" points.
e. The "X" ring in the center of the 10 is simply scored as a 10.
f. An arrow that "robin-hoods" another arrow receives the value of the arrow in the target.
g. An arrow that skips off the floor and strikes the target is scored where it lands.
h. An arrow that skips off the floor and bounces off the target is treated as a bounce-out.
i. Summation of the highest 12 individual scores, with at least 4 of both genders will comprise the team score.
j. Scannable (bubble-type) scorecards will be used. Archers should practice with this type of scorecard before coming to the tournament. Sample cards may be downloaded @ www.archeryintheschools.org)
k. Both archers should walk to the target in their lane.
i. Both scorecards will be on the same score board.
ii. One archer will call arrows he shot while the other bubbles in the score of these arrows.
iii. Archers will then reverse roles with the other calling arrows she shot while the other bubbles.
l. If archers cannot agree on an arrow's score, a range official must be asked to make the final decision.
m. The Scorecard must be signed by the archer and lane-mate at the conclusion of shooting and scoring.
n. Range officials will gather signed scorecards at the conclusion of each flight at the target. Scorecards must remain at the target until collected by a range official.
o. Only the student archer and tournament officials will be allowed downrange of the waiting line.
V. Awards
Ties will be broken:
o First by the computer by comparing total score, then # of 10's, 9's, 8's, and so on.
o If a tie persists a shoot-off will take place:
Tied individuals will shoot a 5-arrow warm-up end at 15 meters. Then a 5-arrow end competitive end at 5 meters. If still tied, a single arrow shot from 15 meters, closest to the middle of the target's center will break the tie.
Tied teams will select one male and one female archer from their teams. The two archers from each team will shoot a 5-arrow warm-up end at 15 meters and then a 5-arrow scoring end at 15 meters. The combined scores of both the boy and girl team members will be compared to break the tie. If a tie persists both the boy and girl from each team will shoot a single arrow at the same target. The arrow closest to the center of the target will win the tie.
1 team trophy will be awarded to each of the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place teams in each division.
Each 1st thru 3rd place teams' members will also receive a medal.
Trophies & medals will be awarded to 1st-5th place individual boys and girls in 4th, 5th, and 6th grades.
Students younger than 4th grade who participate according to the national rule allowing this, will be included among 4th grade students for individual awards.
Trophies and medals will also be awarded to 1st-5th place boys and girls in the Middle and High School Divisions.
VI. Protest Procedures
A. A committee will be designated to receive and resolve official protests regarding the tournament.
B. Member(s) of the committee will be located in the "Coaches Review Room" at least 30 minutes following the conclusion of every flight.
C. Coaches of each team or individual archers are encouraged to visit the "Coaches Review Room" following the conclusion of each flight before results are deemed final.
D. Only the officially registered coach of the archery team or individual may file and participate in a protest.
E. A protest must be received by the committee within 30 minutes following the conclusion of each flight.
F. Protests may concern the following:
1. An individual archer or team's score.
2. Equipment compliance.
G. Video or other photographic evidence regarding the protest will not be considered.
H. Decisions made by the protest committee will be considered final.
